No posters on COVID-19 patient home: Why can’t it be implemented across country, asks Supreme Court

  • Affixing posters outside residence of COVID-19 positive person amounts to  violation of fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of constitution.  
  • The SC favored Nationwide guidelines to get rid of affixing posters outside residences of covid-19 patience.
  • A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan remarked when Delhi government has agreed to do it before the Delhi High Court, then why can’t center do it for entire country.

No disinfectants and ultra violet rays should be used on humans: SC asks center to issue directions.

  • The verdict was passed by bench on a plea seeking directions to the center to immediately ban the installation, production and advertisement of disinfection tunnels involving spraying or fumigation of chemical disinfectants on humans.
  • A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan asked the government to do necessary in this regard within a month.

Supreme Court issue notice in plea challenging AP High Court stay on probe

  • An oral remarked by Three-Judge bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan, stated that “ state did indeed have the power to appoint commission, take appropriate action and sue”.
  • However, Supreme Court also said it would consider both the appeal field by government and the state’s plea for interim relief to lift the stay order after four weeks.

Bombay HC orders investigation into disclosure of RTI applicants details on I&B ministry’s website

  • The Bombay High Court has directed I&B to conduct probe into the disclosure of personal data of more than 4,000 RTI applicants on website.
  • The secretary, I&B ministry has been told to finish the inquiry within three months.
  • A fine of rupees 25,000 is also imposed on Indian government to compensate for petitioner’s litigation costs

Turkish President’s “Declaration of Violence” condemned by France

  • Possibility of new sanctions against Ankara has also been raised.
  • Turkish president has been in dispute with French President on several geopolitical flashpoints.
  • Turkish President Erdogan recently also feuded on France’s fight against radical Islam.
  • Boycott of French products have recently been called by Erdogan.

 Biden close to victory with Wisconsin, Michigan wins

  • Biden wins in Wisconsin and Michigan inching him towards victory.
  • Trump along with the Republicans declared they might go to Supreme Court for voter fraud.
  • President Trump falsely declared victory with votes still uncounted the other day.
  • 253 and 214 electoral votes have been secured by Biden and Trump respectively.

 A total of 135 Million doses of COVID-19 vaccines ordered by Australia 

  • As Australia plans for mass vaccination within months, two more under process COVID-19 vaccines are ordered by the government.
  • With new 50 million doses to be brought, the country has already committed to buy 85 million doses from AstraZeneca and CSL Ltd., making the total of 135 million doses.
  • If vaccine trials are successful, then by early 2021, Australia shall receive its first batch.
  • Excess doses are planned to be donated to Pacific Islands countries.

  • This is in furtherance of various colonist connections found with all street names.

 2019 Pulwama Attack: Sanctions demanded on Pakistan by members of European Parliament

  • 4 members condemned the open disclosure made by the Pak minister for country’s involvement in 2019 Pulwama attacks in India.
  • An immediate sanction of Pakistan and investigation into Pak’s involvement in terror attacks of similar nature in Europe has been requested.
  • Although Pakistan denies responsibility of Pulwama terror attacks, but a terrorist group based in Pakistan claims the responsibility.

Kafala labour system – A modern way of slavery is no more

  • Saudi Arabia, the new middle east vast in culture and trade, also having 1.5 millions of human resource from across globe.
  • They are using Kafala or Sponsorship system which says that non-Saudis must seek permission from their employer to join new job, change jobs, travel abroad or leave the country permanently.
  • If the employee runaway, they will automatically come under fugitive which is often criticized by human rights activists.
  • Recently, the Saudi government removes such controversial restrictions on the foreign workers.

Pork says it’s time to be a vegan

  • A rare strain of swine flu, infected with H1N2 virus was recorded in Canada recently.
  • Since 2005 only 27 cases worldwide have been reported of people infected with the H1N2 but  not to be confused with the more common H1N1 swine flu virus. There have been no cases in Canada prior to this one.
  • This a rare type of flu in humans, typically acquired from exposure to infected pigs and not known to spread easily from human to human.

North Korea bans smoking in public areas: amid corona pandemic

  • North Korea bans smoking in certain public places keeping in mind the hygiene of people amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that over 43 percent of the male population in North Korea is addicted to smoking, which is a very high number compared to other countries in the world.
  • It is noted that North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Joung Un also said to be addicted to smoking as many photographs he pictured holding cigarette.

India’s resolution on counter terrorism , adopted by UN General Assembly

  • Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti tweeted recently that “India at forefront of counter-terrorism. Delighted that the annual resolution tabled by India “Measures to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction” was co-sponsored by more than 75 countries and adopted today by consensus in First Committee of UN General Assembly,”
  •  India has urged greater international co-operation to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems.
  • We have to note that it was happened in the shadow of two big incidents such as US presidential election and the India china cross border conflicts.

Whoever wins, we can be friends – London comment on US presidential election

  • Prime minister Boris Johnson believes whoever win the US election, Britain’s partnership will be in the safer hand.
  • However, Foreign secretary Dominic Raab says he don’t worry about the relationship. Theresa may also hopes for the election result, also commenting her grievances about the US leaving the Paris climate accord.
  • It is noted that America officially withdrawn from Paris agreement.

Karnataka : Former Minister apprehends by CBI in Murder case

  • Former Minister, Vinay Kulkarni detained by CBI in probing a 2016 murder case of BJP Zilla Panchayat member, Yogesh Gowda.
  • Kulkarni apprehended by six member CBI team led by Officer Rakesh Ranjan from his home at Barakotri in Dharwal district of Karnataka. 
  • On June 15, 2016, Gowda hacked to death by 5 Malefactor at Saptapur.
  • Five Malefactor were identified as close associates of Kulkarni.

Hammer Missile will be equipped with Indian Fighter Aircraft “Rafael”

  • France has agreed to equip Indian Rafael with Hammer all-weather smart weapon.
  • Hammer can be launched from very short range to a very long range of 70 km.
  • It works without availability of GPS & can used for Multi-target attacks.
  • It will be delivered to Indian Air Force Station in Ambala by the end of this month.

Massive Explosion in Gujarat chemical factory

  • 12 Labourers died & 10 others were injured after a terrible explosion in chemical Godown.
  • The explosion wrecked 4 adjoining Godowns of Textiles.
  • Government announced an ex-gratia compensation of 4 Lakh to the deceased family.
  • Police officials summoned Godown owner & Tenant. Also initiated a detail probe in the incident.

Fire Mishap at Vizag steel plant, none injured

  • Fire broke out is surmise to cause by leakage of oil from the Lubrication system.
  • No casualties to the workers in Mishap & steel plant was also not affected.
  • CISF were called & fire was brought under Control.
  • “The internal probe has started to ascertain the exact cause of fire”, Official said.

Nitish Kumar labelled as ‘most corrupt Bihar CM’ by Chirag Paswan

  • Chirag Paswan, President of Lok Janshakti Party created quite a stir in Bihar when he said that Nitish Kumar is ‘greedy’, would befriend anyone in power and was thus the ‘most corrupt Chief Minister’ of Bihar till date.
  • He also stated that the Bihar Chief Minister is a ‘palturam’ as he earlier neglected Lalu Prasad Yadav but had formed the government with Rashtriya Janata dal (RJD) in 2015.
  • The Assembly elections for 78 seats in 15 districts is scheduled to be on 7th November and the results will be declared on November 13.

Nationwide protest against farm laws, Farmers block roads in Haryana

  • On Thursday as a part of nationwide protest, farmers in Punjab and Haryana had blocked roads at several places. The said move has been called out by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee from12 noon to 4 pm.
  • The farmers had blocked many national highways owing to which many inconvenience is caused to the citizens.
  • Farmers have been protesting in response to the three central farm laws – the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, the Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 which have been recently enacted by the Government.

Indian Army Chief meets with Nepal counterpart to discuss ways to uplift cooperation between armies

  • On Thursday, Indian Army Chief General M M Naravane who is in Kathmandu on a three-day visit met General Purna Chandra Thapa of Nepal to talk about different measures to increase and improve the bond and cooperation between both the armies.
  • The visit of Army Chief mainly aims at improving the ties which has lately been under lot of strain due to border issues.

  • Various NGO’s, civil society groups, village heads and locals from the vicinity have reported about emission of radioactive gases.
  • The state government has decided on a meeting held on Friday to look into the reports of leakage of toxic waste of uranium in South West Khasi Hills district.

Demand for soft drinks in semi- urban and rural markets:

  • The chairman of RJ Group Mr., Ravi Jaipura said Recovery in urban markets is gradual, and revival of out-of-home consumption depends on increased re-openings of theatres, restaurants, mass transportation and outdoor facilities, though we are seeing revival in demand on a month-to-month basis in these channels as well now,” in an interview respectively.
  • Minimal lockdown disruptions and reverse migration led to acceleration of demand for soft drinks in semi-urban and rural markets in the second half of the September.
  • RJ Corp-owned Varun Beverages, PepsiCo India’s exclusive bottling partner in India which makes and distributes soft drinks such as Pepsi and Mountain Dew, and Tropicana juices, it was reported that they earned a tremendous revenue growth and net profit in the recent times.

Apple has recorded its highest ever shipments in the recent times:

  • Premium phone brand Apple has recorded its highest ever shipments in the July-September period when Samsung dethroned Chinese rival Xiaomi in both smartphone and the overall handset markets, according to Cyber Media Research.
  • There was a remarkable growth in the Apple Shipments around 67% overall. It saw its highest quarterly shipments and captured 7th position in the top ten list on the back of the good demand for its two models which together contributed 91% of its shipments in the year 2020 which was reported by their research firm.
  • On the production of the iPhone 12 launch, Apple is on the way to have its best financial year ahead.

Volvo trucks to launch heavy duty concept electric trucks:

  • Volvo said it was currently running tests of the electric heavy-duty Volvo FH, Volvo FM and Volvo FMX trucks, to be used for regional transport and urban construction operations in Europe.
  • Volvo said, “the trucks will have a gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes, and, depending on the battery configuration, the range could be up to 300 kilometers ”.
  • They said they will start selling in the year   2021 and the volume production will be started in the year 2022 which means that from 2021 onwards Volvo Trucks will sell a complete range of battery-electric trucks in Europe for distribution, refuse, regional transport and urban construction functioning.

  • Homemakers switched to online purchasing in at least one category of essentials also used some online apps for the first time which had many more options and offers available during this festive season respectively.
  • Festive shopping and gifting go digital as homemakers are adopting digital payments and online applications for work and entertainment.
  • Supply chain disruptions due to lockdowns meant lesser availability of preferred brands and homemakers were forced to try newer option which can be an opening door for many more brands to come up with their business and new innovative and creative items.

  • Japanese gaming giant Nintendo said Thursday its first-half net profit soared 243.6 percent on-year as it upgraded its full-year sales and profit forecasts, with coronavirus lockdowns driving extraordinary demand for the same.
  • The gaming industry has been one of the few sectors to survive the pandemic, with people forced to stay at home often turning to games for some escapism, pass time and to divert their mind happily.
  • The relaxed   game has struck a chord with players around the world, many of them enjoying a virtual release amidst the on-going pandemic respectively.
